Michael Spencer, President
Michael is the founder and president of the Judy V. Spencer Fund. His mom was and still is the driving force behind this fund. Her memory will live on by showing others there is hope, even in the most difficult of situations.
Cole pero, VP Of Community Development
Cole is a biology student at Saginaw Valley State University, who enjoys playing soccer and listening to music. Cole joined the JVS team in 2014 while working on his Health Occupation Students of America community awareness project through the Bay Area ISD Career Center. Since then, he has become a dedicated advocator for the cause, leading the student organization at SVSU.
joseph laskowski, vp Of Marketing
Joseph, a Northwood University graduate with a BA that is focused in accounting, joined the team in 2015. Joseph enjoys running, reading, and spending time with his family. Joseph's goal with the JVS team is to raise awareness about domestic violence and the role that the victims pets can play in the situation.
Carah Bannister, Student Representative
Carah, a Junior at Bay City Western High School, is involved in multiple activities within the school. She joined a student led organization this past fall called SADD, which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions. In SADD, she works with others in the group to spread awareness and advice to students throughout the school about how to prevent or deal with someone making destructive decisions such as suicide, drug and drinking abuse. She also is a member of the varsity volleyball team and plans to play varsity tennis in the spring. Lastly, she is part of 3 bands at Western, including Western's marching band (pep band), symphonic band, and jazz band and also actively leading 15 trumpet players in her section. There are leaders for each of these sections and together they are the SLT or student leadership team. "As soon as my friend introduced me to the Judy V. Spencer Fund I wanted to join the organization. I love the idea of this organization because it is meant to help other dogs and people live a better life, and if I can help better someone's life I'm all in!", she says!
Danielle Paten, Student Representative
Danielle is a junior at Bay City Western High School. She's engaged in extracurricular activities that support the community, family, friends, and other students. At the beginning of the school year she became a member of SADD, also known as Students against Destructive Decisions. Another well-known club she joined was Relay for Life. Both of these clubs come together and brainstorm about ideas on how to assist and support people around the world with cancer, or any other adversities that may negatively impact students’ lives. She's also a member of the Marching Band, and Symphonic Band, and was selected to be on the Student Leadership Team. She's currently the squad leader of 18 other students in the Drumline, and assist with marching and musical excellence. When asked why she joined the Judy V. Spencer Fund, she replied "I take pleasure in helping others and the community. This is one of the main reasons why I became involved with the Judy V. Spencer Fund. As a group, we do our very best to be selfless and do all that we can to improve people’s lives.
